A great year of sporting activity at Hatfield Peverel Infant School! Please come and look at our new display board and trophies next time you are in school. We have even more taster days and special events planned for the coming months so watch out on our newsletters for updates. If you would like to see more detail there is a review document on our Information and Policies page.
We have recently been updating our online safety and safeguarding policies and wanted to share with you our updated ICT Rules.
These rules are designed to be at an age appropriate level for our children and are in place both in the ICT Suite and in all the classrooms too.
Please be aware of online safety and refer to the flyer sent out with your induction pack which will help you manage online safety at home too. In this technological age we must do all we can to protect and educate our children about the dangers online.
(This poster is available on the resources page).
There is also a link on the resources page to the NSPCC Website for Share Aware which gives lots of great advice to families for keeping children safe on the internet.
We are thrilled to announce that our Gym Team, who gave up lots of time for training with Miss Holloway and Mrs Goodman, worked through the heats to perfom at the quarter finals in Basildon. Congratulations to them all and a huge Thank You to the staff who trained and supported them in this event.
Well done to the children who represented our school at the recent Mini Olympics hosted at Powers Hall Infant School in June 2017! We are delighted to announce that our Early Years Team from reception won the competition! Well done to our Key Stage 1 team who were pipped at the post and came second by only 1 point! A fantastic effort and achievement by all concerned.
We have recently had very positive feedback about the amount of progress our children are making with speech and language targets across the school, much more than many other local schools it transpires! This is due to having dedicated time allocated to work on children's individual programmes which has been supported by our focus on Communication as part of the Eric Project. Well done to all the staff involved, and to all the parents who have been supporting at home too, this makes a real difference.
Have a look at this new page and meet Eric's Best Friend, Yeti.
Yeti helps Year 2 with their learning, mindset and attitude. He will shortly be available as part of our home lending Communication Kits too!
We have developed a Top Twenty of favourite picture and poetry books that are now in each class in the school.
The aim is to encourage children to know these stories and poems really, really well as this kind of language and vocabulary will greatly help their own story and poetry writing in school.
Each class has recently had a budget of £100 to buy their absolute favourites to have in the home lending Star Book Box. They absolutely love these books and hopefully will start to bring them home soon. With Easter coming up, why not find out your child's favourite and buy it instead of an egg this year? Can they make up their own Top Ten or Top Twenty books to share with you and us? Ask your child about the Top Twenty and special puppet sets in their class, and find out what they think about this innovation.
You might also spot that some of these great books were used as the stimulus for our recent Art Solutions workshops. Come along and look at our fantastic displays and check out which books were chosen too.
